OPTIC Acoustic
Eclectic Selections

Aaron and Angela Mesenberg have been making beautiful music together since they first met in 1998.

In their very first incarnation they were a trio known as Pop Optic, complete with bass player (Rob Zastrow), a programmed drum machine, dazzling computer animated video backdrop, and 3D glasses.

The next several versions of OPTIC were all-out rock bands including great drummers like Mark “Tubby” Powers and Dan “The Man” Peaslee, plus eyeball t-shirts and laser light show. OPTIC won the Z104/Jerry's Music sponsored “Central Wisconsin Battle of the Bands in 1999 (with Rob and Tubby) and also in 2001 (with Dan the Man and Brent Bell on bass).

Angela began playing the bass guitar after Aria, Aaron and Angela's daughter, was born and thereafter OPTIC became a trio once again. Dubbing themselves by such other names as “Midnight Rooster” and “A3”, Aaron and Angela have continued to perform their music over the past decade and a half.

During the last several years Aaron and Angela have been traveling across the nation, from Wisconsin, to Oregon, to Arizona, performing their old west show “The 1880's Variety Show” as a family with their child. These two musicians still enjoy the opportunity to take out the old set lists and entertain an audience at every opportunity.

Aaron has been teaching and playing the guitar for over 25 years. He has developed an original guitar style that transcends his influences and shows an instinctive sense of the essence of musical genre. Having expressed himself for years with the electric shredding furor fitting the late 80's and early 90's, these days Aaron prefers to use his classical guitar with a loop pedal to allow him to play his signature leads. Angela provides the lead voice for this duo. Her twist on the styles of early pop and rock influences combined with the technique gained by years of performance experience, as well as instructing vocal students for several years, is the unique voice that is an integral part of this duo's characteristic sound. When Aaron blends in his vocals they produce powerful harmonies, and at times during a performance Aaron takes his turn as lead voice, giving Angela a chance to harmonize. This arrangement of vocal variety allows for a diverse play-list while evoking quite a memorable music experience for the listener.
